Securing the border ranks as voters’ top priority for next U.S. Senator
LANSING, Mich. – Former Congressman Mike Rogers has early support with Republican primary voters in the open seat for United States Senate. In an MRG-commissioned survey of 600 likely Republican primary voters, 23% confirmed their support for Rogers, while 7% support Peter Meijer and 2% plan to vote for Sandy Pensler in the upcoming August Primary election. In the survey, conducted February 19-22, 62% are undecided, and 6% plan to vote for another candidate.
An overwhelming 58% of Republican voters also believe securing the border between the United States and Mexico should be the top priority for the next U.S. Senator. Working across the aisle in Washington D.C. to fix the chaotic and uncertain political environment came in second with 18%.
“Most of Rogers’ support comes from Southeast and Mid-Michigan where favorable TV ads promoting Rogers’ experience as a military veteran and former law enforcement officer have been playing for several weeks,” said Jenell Leonard, Owner of MRG. “The outside efforts to brand Rogers as the candidate that has the knowledge and experience to secure the border and bridge the political divide in D.C. is resonating with voters.”
